At a glance
Everything you need to know before booking, at a glance.
Shorter than the initial appointment—refinements only, no full redo.
Second healing is typically faster and less intense than the first.
A proper touch-up significantly extends how long the result lasts.
Skin is already conditioned to the procedure—most clients find the second session easier.
Why a touch-up matters
Permanent makeup heals in stages. The outer layer of skin sheds in the first 1–2 weeks, taking some pigment with it. By 4–6 weeks, the true result is visible—but it often needs refinement: light patches, uneven color or minor shape corrections.
A touch-up session at 6–8 weeks is where the work is completed. It is not a sign that something went wrong; it is a built-in part of any quality PMU process.
Touch-up sessions can also be used to refresh faded permanent makeup from a prior appointment, even one done elsewhere—though results depend on the original pigment and technique used.
Pre-care, day-of, and healing
Full protocols from marilipz.com
Same prep as your initial appointment
Follow the same guidelines as your first session to ensure clean healing and good retention.
Shorter session, same clean-face rule
Arrive with a bare treatment area and a good understanding of any changes you want made.
Second heal is usually easier
Follow the same aftercare as your initial session—keep it dry, no picking, no sun for 10 days.
Three details people skim past
Small choices upstream prevent surprises on procedure day— especially around prior pigment, stimulants, and comfort planning.
- 1Book within the right window
Touch-ups included in the original service price are valid at 6–8 weeks post-procedure. Booking too early (before 4 weeks) means skin hasn't fully healed; booking too late (after 3 months) may require a refresher session at a different rate.
- 2Touch-ups on work done elsewhere
We can often work on existing PMU from another artist, but results depend on the original pigment, technique and skin condition. Send photos before booking so we can give you an honest assessment.
- 3Shape changes at touch-up
Minor shape corrections are completely normal at the touch-up stage. Major shape overhauls are harder once pigment is already placed—communicate your preferences clearly at your initial consultation.
If you are unsure whether it is the right time for your touch-up, send a photo of your healed brows and we will advise.
Candidacy at a glance
Side-by-side framing keeps expectations clear: who this tends to serve well, and when we pause or decline. Honest screening, not scare tactics.
You're likely a good fit if...
- Had your initial PMU session 6–12 weeks ago
- Notice uneven color saturation or light patches after healing
- Want minor shape adjustments after seeing the healed result
- Want to extend the longevity of your existing permanent makeup
- Had PMU elsewhere that has faded and needs refreshing
When we may not proceed
- Less than 4 weeks since initial procedure (skin not fully healed)
- Active skin irritation, infection or sunburn in the treatment area
- Pregnant or nursing
- Under 18 years of age
